Hardin-Simmons University is an approved testing site for the CLEP exam. You do not have to be a current student at HSU to take the examination on our campus. As long as space is available, we will host any qualified CLEP examinee.

The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) is designed to evaluate atypical educational experiences. Students who have never enrolled for any college credit in a particular course* and who score at or above the designated score for that course may earn credit through the subject examination.

The following rules regarding credit by examination apply to all HSU students:

Credit by examination may not be earned for (a) any college level course in which the student is currently, or ever has been enrolled, or (b) any subject area in which the student has already earned credit for a more advanced course, or any course for which the student does not meet the prerequisites by the time of submission of scores.  For questions regarding General Regulations for Credit by Examination please refer to the University Catalog, Pg. 32.
